Sleezer's Guide to Growing Blogs

May 6th 2008 00:40
Yea, right pal
Growing your 2008 Blog the EZ Sleezer's way:

• Show lots of T and A, pick any smutty photo, they're all good.
• Keep word counts minimal, e.g., Whaz yer fav F* word?
• Be politically correct, never call each other mother*, cock*, sonofa* or niggardly politicians.
• Never resort to calling your fellow fuzzy headed wombat smelling pieces of dung eating bloggers names, because it’s rude.
• Always be sensitive to social issues, questions like, “Hey where does a bloke get a copy of that Washington madams, uh, list of hostesses and their numbers?” are insensitive.
• Remember you can post photos of you burning a country’s’ flag, but showing photos of you peeing on it in public will get you arrested.
• Ah, don’t show pictures of Jr. Miss Pageant contestants’ you’ll be labeled a perv, but healthy activities like family nude sun bathing with the same kids is OK.
The Newd Face of Politics
Avoid topics like Politics, Religion, Sex, and Bestiality on Sundays; well except for those rants against Christians, Scientologists, GW Bush and Sufi’s.
• Show only tasteful APS, UPS or CNN photos of the Bimbo crouch shot of the day.
• Forget spell checking, rules of grammar, punctuation and civility; anyone that complains is obviously some f*g, cock*g, sonofa*g rule monger, and it so spoils spontanuity.
• Remember, write your post after you’ve commented on dozens of others and are thoroughly brain dead for maximum impact.
• Always support your fellow bloggers and gently let them know what ignorant, uneducated, stupid, brain dead zombie wankers they really are, it’s good for the ratings.

Raven

Visit my other nefarious blogs, occasionally; leave a note or a rant, it’s all good.

I've seen racier looking pictures on billboards kitty corner to a primary school. Doesn't K-mart have pictures of women in lingerie in the catalogues they stuff in your letterbox?

Why all the fuss I ask?

Hiya katyzzz, I am doing a parody piece and didn't think I crossed the sleaze line, but I wanted to bump against it to make a point.

The photo got through your filter? Hmm..., although risque, the photo is of a man hugging a poster on a post which isn't inappropriate and if kids watch TV, they've viewed worse than that on the commercials.

The language is to cryptic for most preteens and if they do understand the gist of the messages, than it'd suggest that they were exposed to it earlier somewhere else.

And, katyzzz, I frequently use hyperbole to make a points which constantly bumps the rails of your sensitivity; I don't protest your right to make a plea for common decencies or to complain to Jon. If you both honestly feel that I should have a FFP filter on this, then let me know.

I thought I made it clear Raven when I commented before, I do not want those types of pictures on my front page. I think it needs the filter, I have mine in place and thought it would not have got through.

I don't think much of the character of the people who make me a personal butt for their stupid views.

I really do think this community is being type cast. It's not a scenario in which I wish to join.

The mob mentality, they don't have one of their own, singly they go to water, which is about what I would expect.

katyzzz, i didn't intend to use you as a punching bag. i too balk at the way the female form is used for money or ratings.
however, it is not because i object to seeing a semi-naked woman.

at the same time as this post was in the sidebar there there was a picture of a child holding a placard saying "god hates fags" and another of a man getting his body ripped to shreds by a pack of hungry zombies.

now, i am not complaining about the presence of those pictures as i have nothing against them being there. i am merely asking why some people appear to think that the body of a woman is an affront to the eyes of children but these other violent and disturbing images are not.

Comment by Cheryl J

May 6th 2008 13:46
Hooray Ruby for the voice of sanity and reason. I personally find none of them offensive but why is it that pictures of an underwear clad woman or a semi nude but strategically covered man be confronting when violence, hatred or pictures of war for that matter are not?

Personally, if I had children I would not have a problem with them seeing nakedness (not sex). Nudity and sleaze do not necessarily go hand in hand. The human body is a thing of beauty and we are all naked under our clothes. I'd be far worried about them being confronted by violence.

Katyzzz, I am not making you the butt of any joke, and if any teasing was going on, it's because regular Orbler's know your viewpoint, your consistent and predictable moral stand.

Was there a FFP filter on your nude bicyclist post with the full frontal Monty shot, the flapping penis came as a surprise to me and would seem a bit controversial for a post of yours.

Given the history of your posts, no parent would likely hesitate to allow their youngster to browse your posts, there is nothing in place to prevent that and I'd certainly hate to see the "must be 18 or over to enter" entry system imposed; because kids know how to skirt it by lying and nothing substantial would have been resolved.

When should personal responsibility come into play for the reader? We're trying to establish workable parameters for writers as responsibly as possible under the circumstances, but ultimately it's a two way street. We all suffer from the affliction of free will.

Hello Cheryl, the hit cat is of course your's for the taking, it'll be interesting to see how he comes into play later on.

Actually I used advertising as a standard for this post, because of their stated positions on morality; why is this photo indecent on Orble but alright for your Sunday News paper? Freely available for viewing and free from a photo and content rating?

Are they to be censored as well?

Raven

May 6th 2008 15:55
Hello Ruby, I don't think katyzzz is specifically addressing your comments, but I can't speak for her.

The use of human sexuality and interest in the male and in particularly the female form has always intrigued me; why is it simultaneously alluring and so taboo? What an odd paradox. Without the allure, the attraction and interest; what would become of the human race? We are blessed and cursed with the same matter.

The wholesale marketing of our sexuality is offensive to me, why do I want to pay for being reminded of my humanness; and yet when I purchase some products I inadvertently buy in to the marketing ploy.

As an artist, I am fascinated by the human form, and find little offensive with it; it's the exploitation of our hard wired sexuality that is offensive.

When I wrote my post, I was paying attention to the sidebar content and hoped to use it for contrast. You are among the few that picked up on it, this was after all a parody.

I found your commented views to be amenable with my own on this topic.

Raven

Hello again Cheryl, that is one the underlying themes of this post. The sight and sound of violent acts stir me up at a primal level and is an exaggeratedly sensitive trigger for my PTSD. When I happen upon a violent act being committed, I inevitably find myself intervening; especially violent acts upon children, women and the elderly.

The violence, even to protect innocents, is still violence and should be expected to be an affront to their senses. It is to me, although that makes me a hypocrite; I am comfortable with the length and breadth of my hypocrisy when it involves preserving life.

It’s the responsibility of parents to teach kids to be comfortable with nudity and to know the difference between that nudity and sexuality, but these things should be offered to them at age appropriate times. Parents should be the persons gaging that appropriate timing issue.

By the time kids today are in junior high school, they have been inundated with raw sexual violence, soft and hard porn and are pretty well desensitized to its moral issues. Oral sex isn’t even considered sex, and the lines between appropriate and inappropriate sexuality is so blurred that it may as well not be there. And the same holds true with violence, and when combined with sexuality; therein lay the worst demons.

And here we are, discussing the visual offense of a man hugging a lingerie ad on a post. Your stand is reasonable Cheryl, because you know your role in the larger scheme of things.

Like you Raven, I adore the human form, and Ive missed your hot ladies - if I cover my blogs with gorgeous, scantily clad women, people may talk about me. But I can enjoy them on your blog as long as I like. I love scantily clad women.

And did you notice, when I sketch naked women, no one says boo? I guess its art? Rather than a frustrated sexual urge?

And Im amazed that Katyzzz had a bare penie on her page - Oh la la! But this debate is getting into the nitty gritty isnt it? The new kids movies are full of violence, hell, the prime time shows and even the simpsons are full of it, but heaven forbid we have a lady in her underwears.....

Actually that was a really good point about my art wasnt it? Its full of violence and nudity and suggestion, I didnt know the family filter existed so I hadnt started clicking it till this week.

Are we ever going to reach a verdict? There is nothing offensive about the human body to me, nor violence, Im not the one to ask I suppose....

I just want to add here that I have seen so much worse on other blogging communities. I think that Orble is rather tame, and I see nothing in the picture related to this post that should get someone riled up.

It does surprise me as I surf around Orble how many comments I see of the "this post is too controversial or offensive" nature. I don't know if they're all coming from the same person or what, but I have yet to come across a post that strikes me as inappropriate for an average blogging site. Maybe I'm just overly sensitive to the concept of censorship, but whenever I see comments that imply that people should edit themselves, it makes my skin crawl!

i love a good parody (or even a bad one sometimes haha) but this one is good
although im afraid that having me agree with you may only serve to make you appear more sleazy . . . oh well, this is the internet after all, not sesame street . . .

can i add a couple of suggestions to the sleezers guide?

sure fire ways to get a top post apart from a nudie pic
- pose a rhetorical question in the title
- make an inflammatory statement in the title
- write a list of your favourite somethings
- write a "revenge" post mocking a fellow orbler to create a bit of contoversy
- use the word "sex" in the title
- and when all else fails use the word "abortion"

i think ive tried all but one but then again i am extremely busy forming my own writing style completely devoid of punctuation

i am extremely entertained once again raven, and i like the shameless promotion of your other blogs at the end, that really was the icing on the cake (not that we werent all visiting them anyway!)

Hello Natalie2, yes, some of the other sites are very rough, nasty and mean spirited. For the most part, even our most egregious offenders are cupcakes in comparison to the more outrageously rollicking n rowdy blogging sites.

The Bastards Lampooning Ocular Gentility and Germane Entertainment Review Society (BLOGGERS) stand for something unique, we stir a bit of raucous with our oft times, ill conceived, off the cuff posts, and so what? When we get to far gone, someone will suggest that we rein ourselves in, and occasionally we do so. That isn’t censorship, that is self policing and I welcome that.

Censorship on the other hand, that’s another matter. We all agreed to a code of conduct established by the “man” when we signed up; most of us haven’t read it closely, but it essentially ensconces the sites management as a benevolent dictator. If we choose not to abide by the rules then it’s time to move on; however, trying the rules to more clearly define acceptable parameters isn’t unreasonable.

Fortunately, there is little censorship herein and I for one appreciate that fact.

Like you, I have experimented with titles and photos, but I haven’t tackled some of the more inflammable topics, but I will in time. The list is a great addition, thanks for suggesting them. Which item haven’t you tried, uh . . . yet?

Actually, I was surprised to learn that many of our fellow bloggers dodn’t realize many of us post regularly to our other sites; but I do and want to share them. I certainly don’t do it for the money.

So, blatantly promote your sites!

i think you should put out a "list" post with links to the best of your posts from across all your blogs so all us newbies know where to start when sampling from your selection . . . or maybe just a list of all the posts featuring nudie women for all the filthy sleazeballs out there lol

Hello again Morgan, some folks try to raise the bar, I found it easier to be accepted by lowering it. Actually, when I’ve tried to post straight forward and serious topics, I wound up the only reader. But, when I allowed my humor and lack of good taste to rule, people read what I had to say.

Some of the topics you listed are themes that I will eventually explore as well. I was shocked recently to find a redux of a recent blog topic of mine; complete with the same photos by one of our more celebrated bloggers (this has occurred more than once). But, rather than be offended, I decided- great, he/she helped promote my point. Access to my tool box is freely given, because the knowledge of how to use them as I do can’t be shared easily, we’d get entirely different results.

Hmmm, I might just do that list Morgan, it could be interesting.

Welcome to Sleezer's World, perhaps the title to my next blog site.

To be honest.
The first year of Orble was its intellectual peak.
We had some excellent subjects discussed without the cattiness and bitter defensiveness. Even controversial issues were handled from explorative manner rather than as mere propaganda and mottos.

After more people joined the bar started to lower.
More people means that there were more people who get upset over nothing. Also there are a lot more people desperate to claw their way to the top of the imaginary heap by any means possible.

Just my 2 cents. Personally I write for me and if people like it than all the better but if they do not I can live with it.

P.S. Curious how, in a highly conservative society, much more horrific sexually based crime happen, as against a more liberal one, like Sweden etc, where the rate is much lower, yet they watch full frontal nudity on TV and in film.

The main area of censorship in Sweden covers violence, which is restricted, for instance, Mad Max is banned!

The reverse in USA, Britain and Oz has violence readily available for all to see, and in these societies violence is a major factor of life.

hahaha, uh, does that mean you loaned out your dog eared copy of the Kama Sutra, Ruby? Oddly, I've never seen a copy of the kama sutra, excerpts from it, but never more than an image or two, whoopee, big deal.

Karma Sutra is such a far more interesting approach, you screw someone this way, here's what you're going to get back.. It'd put a whole new slant on the moral ~ sexual issues of the day.

Oddly enough, my mother managed to put the entire issue of genuine sensual/sexual intimacies in the gutter for me, I ended up marrying the first girl I engaged in sex with and it was catastrophic for us both. I went to Vietnam as frustrated and angry young man who hadn't a clue about relationships or sexual intimacy and my new wife found someone that did within weeks of my shipping out. We're both paying for it today.

My way of dealing with the embarrassment and shame I felt was to use humor as a buffer. So, I find the idea of a karma sutra far more enticing and useful than the other would have been.
