Paypal bane or boone?

February 3rd 2008 18:35
The Boon: Setting up a Paypal virtual terminal for business use, was a pain. You wait a few days for your money after someone has transferred funds and most customers are suspicious of using the service. But in all fairness, it fills a need.

The Bane: The set up was time was irksome, but nothing compared to trying to stop the service. They’re worse than AOL or some other equally obnoxious site to turn off when you try their service on a trial basis. For months I’ve been trying to shut off Paypal and it’s $30.00 a month fee for services I haven’t used or needed for almost a year now.

When I try to close the account on line, they tell me I can’t. When I phone, the party that can resolve the issue never answers. It’s become a monthly ritual. Today, I will set on the phone all day until I get to talk to a human or I will spam their brains out.

The Resolution? I leaning towards explosives and clock towers. The merchants terminal is closed, and the monthly fee is supposedly stopped, but, I still get this message:

“This account cannot be closed until the funds transfer from your bank account is completed.”

And there hasn’t been any-aarrrrrgggghhhhh. I've got blood shooting out of my ears, pass the duct tape, I've been violated.

I like the way they always say, may take some days to clear funds, whereas, the minute you authorize a payment it hits your account almost instantly and just try trying to cancel something to repay to an alternative email address, it just keeps recycling the funds OUT of your bank account and each time you get to pay, I won't fall for that one again, to make up for someone else's inefficiency. But it is generally very convenient.

I must say with Google, via EFT the funds get there so fast it sends you scrambling to the nearest ATM to collect and spend up BIG (ha, ha!)

katyzzz...good morning Raven, awake yet?

Katyzzz, you've convinced me to give Google's service a go. Paypal will never darken my doorway again.

It's for a virtual terminal service Amy, and If I needed it, tha'd be great, but they've stalled closing the service for over 6 months after it was agreed to be closed and kept grabbing the monthly fee.

The basic service is free James, but.....

This is why I was reluctant to set up an account.

It sound like they are using the Internet Porn industry business model.

Easy to set up but impossible to cancel.

Such techniques were also perfected by Readers Digest.
They kept sending books and books despite being sent endless letters and phone calls.

The quickest way to fix them is to close cut off their money trail and tell them to take you to court.
I know for a fact in Australia they will lose.
I am not sure about American consumer law.

It's a PayPain...Raven. I've heard from many it's almost impossible to get to speak with anyone there! They sure don't make it easy for u.

...and like Amy -- I'm annoyed when they charge me a fee for $ paid into my account, and will charge a fee as well if i consider taking out the $ (if it's below a certain amount). All about $ for them...

Damo, PaypornPal does have a certain rhythmic quality to it, once you're in for the play, you pay n pay n pay.

hahaha, Paypain works too Lara, Yahoo (owns Paypal, I believe) is having financial short falls for its shareholders this year, so, I guess they wanted me to cover their loses.

And now ebay is forcing ALL payments onto Paypal. And seeing they own both sites, that seems like double dipping to me.

Ah, aren't we the little PayPains' in the pocket; I thought monopolies were illegal JCL?
