Considering the Angry Generations

August 3rd 2008 21:27
One of the luxuries of living in Alaska is that we can take time to reflect about life, you know, the big ticket things like what does the future hold in store for us, who is going to be in charge and how will it affect the future of the country, myself and family.

That future
may not be so rosy, due in part to some very diversely positioned individuals who are now at a societal cross road; one group consists of some very negative individuals that are hateful of what the US represents on the world stage, I’ll call them Gen X’ers and their road tends to run along liberal lines, and the other major group tends to run along conservative lines, many from this group are actively serving in the military, and doing so with honor and great courage who’ve lost faith, hope and innocence, they collectively make up what can best be described as the angry generation (911 era). These diverse groups are the offspring of the lost/confused generation (Vietnam era), these are the folks in charge now. You know, the Clinton’s, Bush’s and the Kennedy’s et al

A cure possible for the common cold . . .? Title is link.

The adenovirus is the number one cause of the common cold and can be deadly for organ transplant recipients; my brother is one of those recipients, so news like this hits home.

Where R the Women?

April 10th 2008 22:11
We have well educated women in this country with strong character, moral fiber and proven leadership ability.

Why these women won’t step up to the plate and run for president eludes me; is it the systematic character assassination of the vetting process that scares them away

Islamic Apologists Challenged

April 6th 2008 12:47
What is it about the land touted to be the holiest in the world to Muslims, Jews, Christians and Catholics that makes it so damnably accursed with bloodshed and violence between divergent cultures that share common religious roots? It’s a rhetorical and not literal question.

The Crusades were fought, Islam was victorious and the Catholic Church got rich; why is this war to be fought into perpetuity? Remember ~ it was the invading Mongols that devastated what was then Persia and Mesopotamia (who ruled the Islamic world at that time) due in part to the Muslim controlled lands being fragmented sects of diverse ethnic and religious beliefs, which devastation by the Mongols eventually allowed Prester John’s touted campaign of legend against the Muslim world to capture the heart of Europeans. So what? How do we separate fact from legend; dialog is a good start, hence my challenge.

Dvorak ~ wazzit??

April 4th 2008 16:20
A demonic fiend, in the clever guise of a friend, paid me a pre-coffee visit the other morning sometime around the crack of noon. He knows better than to disturb an insomniac who’s finally managed to knock himself into unconscious bliss. The Cretan is a sick twisted cyber geek who needs to find a blow up doll.

After magnanimously inviting him into my home without inflicting great mayhem upon his person, I excused myself to answer a pressing morning summons to relieve my bladder in the privacy of my own litter box enclosure. “No sweat.” he hissed in my general direction, “can I use the computer for a minute

The Castro Chokehold Loosening

grito de libertad
The government of Cuba has made a series of announcements in the past few days that have opened previously closed doors. Cubans with enough cash will be able to buy computers, DVD players and plasma televisions starting Tuesday, and soon they'll even be able to have their own cell phones — consumer goods only companies and foreigners were previously permitted to buy.

But allowing ordinary citizens into luxury hotels and resort beaches long reserved for rich foreigners is a particularly sweet and symbolic victory for Cuba's people.

Gender Wars

March 31st 2008 05:15
Is the age old battle really about, “which is the stronger sex,” or is it more about, “. . . the more survivable and sustainable gender?” If so, then I’d say that the female gender is the hands down winner. My observations have given me these insights:

1-Women, although physically weaker are more durable, a mans strength is also his bane

Scripture Quoting Arrogance

From the Soap Box
"Moral indignation is jealousy with a halo." -- H.G. Wells

Why is it that the mere mental image of a Christian quoting scripture incites some (including this blogger) to anger at best, and to rage at worst

Whatchall’ bin doin?

March 2nd 2008 04:05
Nothing? Me too. I recently found myself divorced from society’s core infrastructure, the life blood of modern life, the utility network, aka the grid. I began this latest burst of doing nothing by turning off the TV, the phone and the internet. Which was pointless, but so was this whole unholy exercise in futility. Kinda like shoveling snow; it never seems to end and generally will leave when its ready anyway. But a month without internet bytes will nip you where you live; so I've learned.
